Café Five is a Lebanese & Mediterranean cuisine speciality restaurant, which my friends and I recently discovered while visiting a friend’s place in Gurgaon. Located on the 1st floor of the Cross Point Mall, this quaint little café might be difficult to locate but is definitely worth every effort and I wouldn’t even deny calling it one of the best Lebanese cuisine serving places I’ve ever visited. Further, it’s always interesting to dine at places where the owner himself is a chef and takes pride in serving his creations with full confidence; and you’ll get to experience it here.
With bright coloured interiors this café in itself is a small one with a seating layout for 15-20pax and enjoys sunlight for major duration throughout the day. Food served here is catered to the diverse demographics very well and also maintains the authenticity of the original cuisine.
The highly recommended dishes here based on my experience have to be –
Hummus Platter – Three types of hummus (pesto, spicy and original) were served along with pita breads and pickled vegetables. Each variety of the freshly prepared hummus had a perfect thickness with rich flavor.
Falafel Platter – The platter in itself was none less than an art with the falafels beautiful plated over greens and served with sour dip in middle. Beautifully crunchy falafels had the perfectly spiced filling of grounded chickpeas and each bite of it will take you to heaven. A must try here!
Chicken in Hummus – This innovative dish was a perfect delight for our already amazing gastronomic journey here. With the mind-blowing spicy & saucy chicken in the middle of hummus you actually don’t need pita breads with it, as we gulped down the whole portion directly. A must try again!
Lamb Keema Pockets – The whole journey of the amazing food couldn’t suppress the taste and flavors of this last dish that had the most amazingly cooked lamb keema tagged along with onions and fresh pita pockets. Each Bite – Heaven. Period.
Phirnilicious – Basically ‘Phirni’, a rice and milk dessert was our final order to conclude the meal. Also very similar to ‘kheer’, this dessert had the sweetness levels in check but found it little liquidy. Still a decent option and worth trying once.
Finally I would happily rate this place a really good rating of 4.5/5 for the amazing food, authenticity & flavours, presentation and pocket friendly prices.
Will I visit again? – Definitely!
